About SSIFWA
Our story, mission, and the values driving South Sudan's freight industry forward.
Who We Are
The South Sudan International Freight and Warehousing Association (SSIFWA) is the Republic of South Sudan's premier trade association representing clearing agents, freight forwarders, and warehousing companies.
We represent 287+ certified professionals — including 50 women — operating across 12 border points throughout South Sudan. Our members are the backbone of the country's trade infrastructure, facilitating the movement of goods between South Sudan and its East African neighbours.
In June 2024, South Sudan officially joined FEAFFA — the Federation of East African Freight Forwarders Associations — cementing SSIFWA's place in a regional network representing over 2,500 clearing agents across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, and Zanzibar.
Key Milestones
Founded as the Southern Sudan Clearing Agents Union, initially operating along the border towns of Kaya and Nimule.
Rebranded following South Sudan's independence to better represent the growing freight and warehousing sector.
Expanded operations across 12 key border points, formalising membership structure and introducing professional standards.
Adopted a new SSIFWA constitution in Juba (October), and officially joined FEAFFA at the AGM in Nairobi (June).
